Festival Director Steve Scherri shares his excitement about this week’s Bondi Beachfest!
"The Bondi Beachfest is rolling on, you can feel it, the vibe is great. Everyone is excited and getting ready to be on a natural high this Saturday. In this case, it's the best made plans made by the best people I know who can do this. Waverly Council has been outstanding in their support for the event and their diligence and professionalism has made sure the DA to do this event is compliant and community and environment friendly. The STA team and our traffic management team have studied the needs and expectations of the event to ensure you can get there and get home without too much bother. The Police and our security team have worked to ensure the event is safe and secure for you, your family and friends to enjoy. And our event team and the Bucket List have done everything possible to make sure you are well catered for with event facilities, food and beverages to the highest festival standard.
The site will be ready on Saturday, The Beach Boys landed in Australia this morning and our other Aussie acts are in the region! We're on the home stretch.
I feel Bondi Beachfest is going to be triumphant, because something magical will happen when The Beach Boys play on the beach at Bondi Beach. Plus, it's our first Bondi Beachfest"

The Beach Boys will head line the inaugural Bondi Beachfest with support from the following Australian Artists: The Whitlams: Kim Churchill: Busby Marou: Sahara Beck:
The Whitlams won ‘Best Group’ at the 1998 ARIA Awards, as well as ‘Song of the Year’ and ‘Best Independent Release’ for their third album “Eternal Nightcap”. In 2011 this album was placed 27th on the ABC’s “My Favourite Album” poll, and more recently was voted no. 17 in “JJJ’s Hottest Australian Albums of All Time”.
Local Queensland boys Busby Marou, originally from Rockhampton, will support show with their melodic guitar riffs and meaningful lyrics. The Australian newspaper describes them perfectly - "The overwhelming feeling that emanates from BUSBY MAROU is joy. The voices and close harmonies are as clear as Queensland sunshine, and the acoustic guitar playing of both men is both accomplished and expressive”.
He is the name on everyone’s sultry lips and with good reason. Kim Churchill, the surfy dude from New South Wales, is four albums deep and hundreds of shows down and has truly found his signature sound with his latest release Silence / Win. With fingertip calluses as coarse as thimbles and those signature vocals as crisp as an autumn dawn, these unmistakable talents roll together with expert composition and lyrical wisdom to form one tantalising combination.
Call it the restlessness of youth, but Brisbane artist SAHARA BECK refuses to sit still. Over the past year she has released a critically respected EP, toured and played shows non-stop, had her music featured online and on television, collaborated with numerous artists, written countless new songs and released another EP - BLOOM. “Given what Sahara Beck has already achieved in her short career, she’s a rising star.
