Wet, wild, yet wonderful! - An amazing night!
21 November 2015
Thank you for coming and sharing the good times with us at Bondi Beachfest 2015.
Who could believe it, the very first Bondi Beachfest, with The Beach Boys, the musical icons of summer cheer, surfing and sunshine playing on Sydney's famous Bondi Beach, on a November day that, well… was absolutely terrible, it was bucketing down with a 25 knot southerly. There’s no denying it, our best made plans didn't really include this type of bad weather so there was a blend of apprehension and worry turning in our stomachs. However, those concerns soon vanished as thousands of fans entered the custom made Beachfest event site. The Beach Boys hadn’t even taken to the stage and the atmosphere was buzzing agreeably. The crowd was made up of both young and old, as well as some very familiar celebrity faces. Everyone including Mel Gibson was already bopping away in preparation for the well-awaited show. And with the impressively stormy waves of Bondi setting a rather excitingly atmospheric backdrop, it seemed no one really cared about the rain eh?
“No one really cared about the rain”
Although the rains came, we had the best time. To the fans that attended Bondi Beachfest 2015, you’re the best festival goers I’ve ever seen. To our tireless team of people who put together this unbelievable difficult event, many thanks for your contribution. There is no-one on the Beachfest staff that didn’t do everything possible to put on a great show.
Last, but not least, a huge thank you to the bands that performed on the day in such difficult conditions, it was fun, fun, fun! Sahara Beck, Busby Marou, Kim Churchill, The Whitlams and of course, the fabulous Beach Boys – they definitely proved they’ve still got it.
An amazing night with the absolute legends that are The Beach Boys!
Here are some memories of our first ever Bondi Beachfest.
